Royal Show England 2006

This year's show was a Red Letter event because we were able to welcome Gary Buller as our Judge. We understand that it was his and his wife Julie's first visit to the UK.

The female entries this year were much stronger than usual which we hoped gave Gary some more work to do when picking his winners. The Breed Champion was Waterfield Indie shown by Sue Harrow, and the Reserve and Junior Champion was Ashrose Rocky entered by Otter & Co, shown by Wendy Finucane. This was Sue's first Breed Championship at the Royal Show, she has been a very strong supporter of Murray Grey cattle showing over many years. Congratulations from all the membership of the Society.

This year for the first time we had a separate Calf Class following the Cow Class - it was won by W & J Woolley with Earnshaw Nadine's calf. We were stewarded by Ron Annett and Janet Digby, they ran it smoothly as usual. It was good to have Joan Hoy with us to present her trophy for the Junior Champion Murray Grey.

We had our usual barbecue in the evening of showing day. It was a good chance for many of the members to talk to Gary and Julie. As you can imagine there was much discussion with Gary about Murrays in Australia which was very useful for us all.
